MESSAGE FROM THE STATE DEPUTY

6/1/2010

My Brother Knights,

At the beginning of the year, I asked that you consider the Santo Nino, the child Jesus, as your guide, as a source of inspiration. As a reminder that He came to live amongst us to save mankind, but more importantly, to show us - to show us how it’s done.

The venerable Fr. McGivney must have also looked to the Santo Nino for inspiration. In starting the Knights of Columbus, he adopted the precepts: charity, unity, and brotherly love.

I thank our State Chaplain, Msgr. Nestor Rebong for accepting the challenge of helping us acknowledge God and to welcome Him into our lives, to totally accept Christ’s summons to be His disciple, to let Him live His life through us, to be His hands.

I would like to commend everyone for their numerous projects in support of their parishes and communities. These underscore two important facts: First, we are motivated and driven with our love for God and our Love for our Neighbor. We have realized that Columbianism is really discipleship. We evangelize by our works, by our witness, by living as light to others.

Secondly, the need for continued strong membership growth. We need all the help to continue and do more. The Knights have always led the way towards being “The Strong Right Arm of the Church” and we cannot continue to be that if we do not invite others to help us, if we do not invite others to also be His hands.

With more hands under His guidance, we can continue to flourish. And with continued strong leadership, we will continue to teach the sanctity of human life, to teach about the beauty of marriage, to teach about the important central role of the family, to keep doing the good works.

It is shaping up to be a very good year. And with a few weeks to go before the next year starts, we are not going to let up. We are going to keep on going, to give it a bit more “umph” for the rest of the year. I know this because we all love the State Deputy elect and we want to make his year better than this year, just as we are going to make this year better than last year. And we can do that by keeping in high gear.

This year would not have been if it were not for all your help, your prayers, your support, your friendship, for all that you’ve done - not only this year but for the past few years as I was going thru the chairs. With all my heart, I thank you.

This year was awesome - truly an experience of a lifetime. Thank you.
