MESSAGE FROM THE STATE DEPUTY
My Brothers in Christ,
We are half way through this Columbian year, and I thank everyone for all of your hard work this year so far. Please keep in mind we still have six months to go.
The Mid-term District Deputy meeting will be January 16 & 17 in Ontario. It is very important that everyone asked to participate do so, as we will be discussing many important things that affect our Order and our State Council.
In this time of joy and celebration, I’d like to focus on one activity that will help you reflect and hopefully bring completeness to your observation of the coming HolyDays.
The number of Americans at risk of hunger this year is far higher than usual. Unfortunately, the number of those planning and able to give to charity at this time of year is lower than usual. As knights, we need to commit our legions of active volunteers to collect food and financially support food banks.
People may not be able to give a lot of money to charity this Christmas, but many can give a can of soup to help their neighbors, and we have to help provide them the opportunity to do so. I then urge all Councils to work with their parishes, Catholic Charities, SVDP, and other similar local groups to arrange, set up, advertise and manage collection drives these next four weeks.
Supreme has launched “Food for Families” program and urges us to collect food for food banks in area. State jurisdictions in which a significant number of councils participate will then be allocated a portion of the $1 million fund for food banks in their areas.
Any comments, questions and to report your council participation, please email Sonny Santa Ines who has agreed chair this very important program – santaines@msn.com
Angie and I wish to you and your families a BLESSED & MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year.
In Nomine Eius, Vinces,
Vincent Pacis
State Deputy
